How to use AccuTherm Single-Use, Disposable Oral / Axillary Thermometers (Latex-Free)

To Get an Accurate Reading
(Available in either Fahrenheit or Celsius)

bullet

Focus on the grid of dots at one end of temp strip.

bullet

The last dot to turn black indicates accurate temp.

bullet

The dots in the left matrix reflect NO fever.

bullet

The dots in the right matrix represent fever.

Note: The green dots change to black from left to right as the temperature increases.

For Oral Use

  1. Place the dot end of thermometer under patient’s tongue, as far back as possible, into either ‘heat pocket’ as indicated on the illustration.

  2. Wait at least one minute to get an accurate oral temperature reading.

  3. Remove and read immediately.

  4. If procedure requires a second reading, wait until the dot-matrix is totally green and reuse the thermometer on the same patient. Discard after use.

Reminder: Prior to taking oral temperatures, wait at least 20 minutes after ingesting hot or cold food / drink, exposure to extremely hot or cold weather or smoking.

For Axillary Use

  1. Place the dot end of thermometer high in the axilla (armpit) with the dot-matrix against the torso, parallel to the body. Close the patient’s arm to hold thermometer in place.
  2. Wait at least three minutes to get an accurate axillary temperature reading.
  3. Remove and read immediately.
  4. If procedure requires a second reading, wait until the dot-matrix is totally green and reuse the thermometer on the same patient. Discard after use.
